Social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace have gained in popularity amongst users. With smart phones now integrating social networking sites like Twitter, user can surf and update their status online.

Companies are now realising the potential of social networking sites as a marketing tool and integrating this as a tool within their marketing mix strategy.

Facebook has over 300 million users, from a business perspective this is the equivalent of reaching an audience the size of America.

Dell have been really successful in this strategy. In 2009 their global sales associated with ‘tweets’ reached $6.5 million. ASOS.com the online clothing retailer has business profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Bebo and MySpace.

What are the benefits of using social networking sites for the business:
